Heres the first picture taken of the first acoustic bass I built.

This was a project I took on because I felt I could make a louder, fuller, and better sounding acoustic bass then what I had played in my past…yes it was a success! I also wanted to make an acoustic bass that placed the neck in the same position as my electric when sitting down. Every 34” scale acoustic bass I have played, had the neck sitting about 2 inches further away from you then a 34” scale electric. This made it feel like a totally different instrument, and not something I could use to practice gigging material played on my electric. There were no corners cut in the materials or the process of this project.

Templates were computer drawn and laser cut for precision of each individual piece, as well as the overall precision of the instrument as a whole. The back and sides are made of solid Indian rosewood, as well as the neck. The neck is also further stiffened with two carbon fiber rods epoxy resined on either side of the two way truss rod. The top is made from old growth Spruce, as well as the interior bracing. The neck pocket and the side stiffening braces are made out of Purple Heart.

I catalogued the entire process to show the precision, time, and skill involved in finishing this piece. I wanted to let the viewer see the detail and effort involved in the creation of this instrument.
